One Down

Cassie came home from Fine Arts Camp this morning exhausted (as expected). She wasn't really coherent enough to talk about her experience, but she did bring home some interesting ceramic pieces, some work from her writing class, and a lot of dirty laundry. She's been sleeping most of the day! One of her roommates was taking a black and white photography class. It's a bit blurry, but I like the photo.

Arnold begins Fine Arts Camp tomorrow!

On Monday, Cassie, Kent and I will be traveling to Portland to spend the 4th of July with his family. And to visit the Coach Outlet, of course!

homecoming

cassie has finished the first of her two weeks at fine arts camp. i've missed her! today she came home for a brief visit to do some laundry and "hang out with mom." camp is exhausting, but she's having a great time!

Mom cried

i'm puttering around today, doing laundry, sorting through piles of clutter, was going through computer disks and found this one from daddy. it's mom opening a package from me. this is september 2004...

i had ordered photostamps with their totem pole picture, and decorated a composition book for mom. apparently she liked it! there was no audio with the video. anybody read lips? there are two of the stamps left ($0.37 each). this is the book. she never wrote in it.

wake-up call

it's been sunny and hot here all week, so i slept with the window open. this morning i woke to the sound of birds. my first thought (after the starling episode) was "oh, not again." but i soon realized these flapping wings were not starling. and i could hear eagles outside. they're really loud. they sound like this: http://www.thebigzoo.com/Sounds/Haliaeetus_leucocephalus_001.mp3

i got out of bed and opened the curtain to see a bald eagle standing atop the old utility pole on the lot next door -- about 12 feet from my bedroom window. of course i didn't have my camera, so here's a picture of the pole...

i looked down and another eagle -- all brown with no white head -- was standing on the ground at the base of the pole. i think this is the same one, standing on the pole across the street a few minutes later...
