All Hale the Theater!

It was pretty easy to convince my sister to get season tickets to the Broadway shows at the Hale Theater in Gilbert. We had walked by and looked at the schedule (and the amazing prices!) and thought it sounded like fun.

Before our first show, we stopped at Postino's and enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine and the bruschetta board. Lovely, though a little on the expensive side.

Outside the theater, a photographer from Gilbert Woman Magazine stopped us and asked us to pose for his column "Caught You Looking Good."  A great line! We posed, but didn't make the magazine.

Cute little theater, with seating all the way around the stage so it feels very intimate. The show was "The Drowsy Chaperone." Neither of us had ever heard of it, and it was HILARIOUS!  Go see it next time you have the opportunity. You will love it. And you'll have "Monkey on a Pedestal" stuck in your head for weeks to come.

Girl's Day Out

Three-day-weekend!  Looking for things to do, I discovered that Pine-Strawberry was holding it's Arts and Crafts Festival. Deb and Dawn were happy to join me on the outing to cooler temperatures.

We stopped in Payson at Miss Fitz's 260 Cafe (recommended by Marlon). Breakfast was very good. Service was quick and friendly. It was a lot of food.  Biscuits and gravy for me and Dawn, Deb had pancakes. Yum!

The Arts and Crafts Festival was much more "crafty" than "artsy." We enjoyed walking through the booths. Dawn is pretty crafty herself, and I think found some inspiration. We saw the nut lady from Gilbert that we met in Prescott.

We wandered through a couple of interesting shops (including an antique store that was very amusing). Decided to stop for a drink at the casino on the way back through Payson.

I think we lost a total of $8.80 at the casino. It was fun, though.

On the way back down 87 South, the traffic heading into Payson was backed up for several miles. Made me really happy that I'm a morning person and that we were able to get an early start and avoid lots of cars!

Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour is September 30 - October 2. I'm planning to go!
